The name Za Mwituni comes from a Swahili phrase meaning “from the wilderness.”
It reflects exactly who we are and what we represent—true wilderness experiences, untouched landscapes, and adventures far from the ordinary safari routes.

Za Mwituni Camps & Lodge is a locally owned and operated safari brand built on a deep love for Tanzania’s wild places. As our name implies, every camp and lodge under Za Mwituni is deliberately located in remote, off-the-beaten-track areas where nature remains pure and undisturbed.
We believe the most meaningful safaris happen away from crowds—where silence, wildlife, and culture come together to create unforgettable moments. Our properties are designed to offer comfort while keeping travelers close to nature, culture, and adventure.
Our Story
Za Mwituni was founded by passionate Tanzanians who grew up around the wilderness and felt a calling to share the hidden beauty of remote Tanzania with travelers from around the world. Over the years, we explored deep into the bush—walking, camping, guiding, and connecting with the land and its people.
Through those experiences, we realized that Tanzania still has large, untouched regions that many visitors never get to see. We wanted to create camps that reflect authenticity, adventure, and responsible travel—places where guests can feel the real heartbeat of the African bush.
From this vision, Za Mwituni Camps & Lodge was born.
Today, we operate unique properties like Namayana Camp in Simanjiro Wilderness and an exclusive Fly/Mobile Camp for truly remote expeditions. Every camp offers a close-to-nature experience, guided by experts who understand and respect the land deeply.
